Slowing Down and Coming Back to Oneself

Does this sound like you?

Running around non-stop for 8 hours.
Still feeling “on”, going full tilt; until you realize you can’t feel yourself.

It happened to me.

I went to the gym to do my usual set of exercises the physical therapist had shown me to strengthen my my transverse abdomens muscle-my core.

Only I couldn’t move. My muscles weren’t obeying my instructions to move.
I was numb; from overworking, over concentrating, over sitting at the computer, etc.
My Nervous System was shut down.

Then I realized I didn’t need to exercise.
I needed to slow down and come back to myself.
So I headed home to do a Feldenkrais “Awareness Through Movement” lesson.

Of course it worked! One hour later I was supple in my body and in my thinking.
Like a teacher erasing the blackboard form the previous class and washing it down; I had re-set my Nervous System – I could feel myself again.
