October 23, 2024Why My Work Is Different
In contrast to other modalities, where there is no learning, I am working with Awareness and the Human Learning Brain which leads to new Neurological pathways being formed (Neuroplasticity); and where there is no ceiling to one’s improvement.
Many times with other practitioners and modalities, the focus is on repeat business and not on a sustainable change that alleviates the pain. It’s the same generic adjustment or exercises that are performed without any Awareness to what you are actually doing. It is performed in the same way by the practitioner each time with the client doing the exercise or adjustment in a rote, time limited, mechanical way.
The old adage from trainers and others that you have to work harder, do more, strain and effort to get stronger is a misconception. The way to get stronger is to become more integrated. It’s not a matter of repetition, you need to change the habitual patterns that you are stuck in doing; to let go of the habitual overwork and parasitic effort that your muscles are doing; and to change patterns of action. Otherwise you’re right back where you started the very next day.
The way to get more vitality, focus and energy is to change your consciousness of how you are using yourself, otherwise you won’t improve. Sure, your muscles get stretched or strengthened, but there is no integration of the parts to the whole. There is temporary relief of pain, but the contracted muscle spring back, or the overall poor organization that caused the problem in the first place returns quickly.
It’s not gravity’s fault.
It is the habitual overuse and relying on your muscles vs. accessing the skeleton to support the human body.
Why does that matter?
Because the habitual overwork of your muscles and poor posture goes back into the body and causes cartilage and ligaments and tendons to deteriorate over time; eventually leading to bone rubbing on bone; creating degenerative Arthritis.
It’s really a difference in Attention.
What works is moving differently, sensing and feeling yourself as you are moving. I am continuously guiding the person’s attention, either verbally or through touch to bring about change in how they are using themselves. Asking their brain to get involved and communicate directly with their body. Looking to expand their choices and getting them to become aware of unnecessary, parasitic effort which is resulting in pain, poor posture or shallow breathing and is interfering in what they want to accomplish.
My way of working – the fact that I am Present with you and the changes going on in you and that you feel safe, seen and heard – leads to immediate positive results and lasting change.
In addition, I integrate many different modalities to find the one that works best at that particular moment in time.
